Your skin’s ability to produce collagen wanes over time, resulting in changes that may not reflect the way you feel inside. Lost fat and collagen results in a sallow, sunken appearance often accompanied by loose, sagging facial skin. Drs. Marc Soares and Dr. Julio Soares at the Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery in Santa Barbara, California, have extensive experience in restoring your youthful appearance and self-confidence through the life-changing face lift procedure.

Face Lift Q & A

What is a Face Lift?

A face lift is a cosmetic surgery designed to correct facial drooping associated with aging. The primary aims of face lift surgery include elevating the cheeks, lifting the jowls, and creating definition along the neck.

What are the Limitations of a Face Lift Procedure?

Face lift surgery is designed to lift the cheeks and jowls and define the neck; it does not address the brow line, correct fine lines, and wrinkles in the upper face, or correct problems with skin tone or texture. These issues are best addressed through other supplementary treatments or procedures. Furthermore, a face lift can’t prevent you from continuing to age.

Am I a Candidate for Face Lift Surgery?

If you're concerned about drooping in areas a face lift can address and are in optimal health, you may be a strong candidate for the procedure. Because this surgery is elective (not medically necessary), the doctors at the Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery will not perform it on patients who are at risk of serious complications or may not recover well. If you aren’t sure if you’re a strong candidate for the procedure, contact our friendly staff today to schedule your no-obligation consultation appointment to learn more.

Is Face Lift Surgery Painful?

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia so that you won’t experience any pain during the procedure. Drs. Soares and Soares put great emphasis on pain management during your recovery period and can keep most patients very comfortable while they heal. A small percentage of patients report some pain despite their treatment regimen.

What Can I Expect During My Procedure?

When you arrive at the office, or staff preps you for surgery. During this time, you'll change into a gown, your vital signs are measured, and an IV is started. Some markings may also be made to guide the surgeon during the procedure.

A staff member will explain the procedure to you, including a risk associated with it, and you may be asked to complete some paperwork or provide authorization.

Before the surgery begins, your practitioner administers general anesthesia. That ensures you rest comfortably throughout the procedure and prevents pain and anxiety. After the procedure is completed, you should wake on your own. Once our doctors clear you, you can return home with a licensed driver.
