What is Breast Augmentation?
Many women are more familiar with the term breast implants. Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure designed to improve contour for women with smaller breasts, improve symmetry for women with different sized breasts, and restore loss of volume after pregnancy or weight loss. During breast augmentation, a silicone or saline breast implant is inserted beneath the skin and fat or the pectoral muscle.
Which is Better: Under or Over the Muscle?
There is no single answer to this question. Some women should have their implants placed under the muscles, some should go with over-the-muscle implants, and some would achieve safe, beautiful results either way.

Is Breast Augmentation Painful?

How Long Do Breast Implants Last?
You won’t need to replace your implants unless you’re having problems with them or would like to change the size of your implant. Many women find that their breast implants last for many years without complication.
How Much Time Away From Work is Required?
Your return to work will depend on whether your implants were placed under or over the muscle and a few other factors. On average, women who work in an office or other light-duty settings can return about a week after their procedure, while women who perform more physical work may need as long as six weeks off of work.
Will I Need a Breast Lift?
Many women need a breast lift in addition to augmentation in order to achieve the look they desire. Generally speaking, if the nipple falls below the level of the breast crease, a lift may be necessary to prevent the implants from causing further sagging.
